Summer/Fall Newsletter 2009
WHILE WE'RE IDLING
It's "Summertime" the best time of the year to perform an inspection of your heating system and make sure everything is working as effectively as it was designed for. Our energy technicians can also point out other ways you can conserve, and estimate a new energy efficient system if needed. If your heating unit is more than 15 years old, you could save up to 40% by replacing it with the latest technology.
We are done offering pre-buy this season, but continue to offer budget plans. If you would like more information, call the office.
MESSAGE FROM THE DRIVER’S SEAT
Congratulations to all the people who did not fall for the misleading information put out by the Vermont Department of Public Service and by Vermont Gas. In the December issue of the Vermont Gas newsletter, they compared the cost of heating your homes with different products and claimed that natural gas was the best value. Ironically the information they used was from the Vermont Department of Public Service, which stated that the average price of fuel oil during December 2008 was $2.87 per gallon and kerosene was $3.43 per gallon. Using these numbers, it was easy to claim that natural gas was cheaper.
THE TRUTH
The average price of fuel oil at Rowley Fuels for the month of December was $2.15 per gallon. Not the $2.87 per gallon that Vermont Gas was claiming.
The average price of kerosene at Rowley Fuels for the month of December was $2.54 per gallon. Not the $3.43 per gallon that Vermont Gas was claiming.
Our average price includes everyone who charged, paid cash, paid with a credit card, or was an automatic customer.
Rowley Fuels oil customers SAVED on average 18% over natural gas during the month of December.
Figuring in the new “lower” rates that Vermont Gas came out with in January, oil heat customers saved 22.7% over the cost of natural gas.
Kerosene customers saved 16.7% over the cost of natural gas.
According to the Consumer Energy Council of America Research Foundation, upgrading to newer, more efficient heating equipment and conserving energy usage are more effective ways to save money than conversion to another type of fuel.
SOUND THE AIR HORN!
“We’re in Heat”, the trademark slogan of Rowley Fuels, is taking on new meaning. Providing heating oil and the service of your heating equipment has always been our greatest strength. I am proud to announce that Rowley Fuels is now offering Propane. The same men and women that you have come to depend on for your source of heating fuels can now be depended upon to deliver, service and install your new propane equipment.
THOUGHT OF THE SEASON:
We all have that old neighbor that lives down the street. I would like to encourage you to remember him or her this summer and give a hand whenever you can.
